DIFFERENT TOWNS AND VILLAGES

16-17/01 Fiestas de Sant Antoni Abad
On the eve of Sant Antoni, practically all the villages in Mallorca celebrate this festivity by lighting bonfires and cooking sausages and pork on them. A magical night where there is no shortage of traditional music played by xeremies, either, when dinner is taken outdoors, the devil wanders freely and poetry battles (glosas) are fought.
 

POLLENÇA 

17/01 Pi de Sant Antoni
On 17th January pollencis, or natives of Pollença, go to the Ternelles estate to fetch a pine tree which they plant in the Plaza Vella. After the trunk is covered in soap, youngsters try and climb up it to reach a cockerel in a basket.
 

DIFFERENT TOWNS AND VILLAGES

20/01 Sant Sebastià
Sant Sebastià is the festival of the patron saint’s day of Palma, and it is also celebrated in other towns like Calvià and Pollença. On 20th January the Cavallets dance in Pollença, a pair of young people decked out in a horse costume who walk through the village preceded by the Estendard, or flag of Sant Sebastià.
