PROTECTED SPACES AND PUBLIC ESTATES

The Serra de Tramuntana was declared a Nature Area because of the wealth and diversity of its scenery, with wooded areas formed by holm-oak, pine and other plant communities which alternate with farmed spaces devoted to the cultivation of olive trees on terraces, or citrus fruit trees and almond trees in the valleys. It includes the Sa Dragonera Natural Park, several Natural Areas of Special Interest (Áreas Naturales de Especial Interés - ANEI), the marine reserves of the island of El Toro and the Illes Malgrats, and the natural monuments of Torrent de Pareis and Fonts Ufanes. There are also numerous public estates which can be visited, some of them with signposted routes and shelters for hikers.
