Mallorcan embroidery

The typical Mallorcan embroidery is extremely singular, although it does have characteristics in common with embroideries from the other side of the Mediterranean, like Crete, Albania or Romania. Linen is usually the preferred fabric, and the motifs are normally plants, with flowers and leaves joined by wavy stalks and lines. This type of embroidery was used to decorated table linen and other trousseau items, and also the rebossillo, a scarf women used to cover their heads.
