Cultural landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana World Heritage

On 29 June 2011, the Serra de Tramuntana was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the Cultural Landscape category. This distinction refers to the result of the interaction between natural and human factors, as established by the European Landscape Convention. Millenary agriculture, in an environment with scarce water resources, has transformed the terrain and created an articulated network of interconnected water management mechanisms between different plots of feudal origin.

The Serra de Tramuntana Consortium promotes policies for the improvement and conservation of all these elements and of the tangible and intangible values, with actions that seek the involvement and participation of all the people who live and work there and that aim to improve human intervention and the sustainability of the territory of the Serra de Tramuntana World Heritage Site.

La Serra en obert, descobreix les possessions emblemàtiques: Visita a Son Marc.

Ubicada al cor de la vall homònima, ocupa el cornaló de ponent del municipi, prop dels primers costers dʼEscorca. Es troba, per tant, en un dels racons privilegiats de Mallorca i amb una essència pròpia accentuada. Aquesta possessió és, sens dubte, una de les més reeixides de Pollença i, a més dʼhabitada, ha sabut conservar arquitectura (amb cases majors, tafona, capella, dependències agropecuàries, etc.) i territori de manera exemplar.
