The Serra de Tramuntana World Heritage Consortium organises an annual photography competition in collaboration with the Balearic Islands Nature Photography Association (AFONIB).
The registration period for the eighth edition of the competition begins on 7 September and ends on 30 September, both dates inclusive.
The competition, with a total prize fund of €5,600, is open to anyone – amateur or professional – who wishes to enter. Entrants must be the authors of the photographs they submit and must hold the rights to them.
The winning images will be honoured at the official awards ceremony and will form part of a travelling exhibition throughout the Serra de Tramuntana.
In 2011, UNESCO recognised the cultural landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana as a World Heritage Site, considering it an exceptional example of sustainable agricultural use that reveals the harmonious coexistence, over the centuries, between humankind and the natural environment.
This photography competition aims to highlight all the elements that make up the cultural landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana: the terraces, the irrigation system, the cobbled paths, the ‘possessions’ and the hamlets, as well as the produce grown on this challenging land.
